What this assessment asks

  1. Is your workplace noisy enough that you must raise your voice to talk to someone about 2 metres away?
  2. How many hours a day are you exposed to loud noise (machinery, tools, plant, loud music)?
  3. Are you exposed to sudden loud bangs or impact noise (hammering, cartridge tools, alarms)?
  4. Do you get ringing, buzzing or whistling in your ears (tinnitus), especially after work?
  5. Do you find it hard to follow conversation in noisy places, or ask people to repeat themselves?
  6. Do others say your TV or music is too loud, or that you don't hear them?
  7. Is suitable hearing protection provided, and do you wear it whenever you're in noise?
  8. Has your employer measured noise levels or arranged hearing checks for you?
  9. Are noisy tasks reduced by quieter equipment, barriers, or limiting time in noise?
Please note: This screening raises awareness of occupational noise and hearing risk. It is not a hearing test or diagnosis. For ringing in the ears or hearing difficulty, arrange proper audiometry and speak with an occupational health professional.
